AI waifu: Co-writing alternate endings with an AI character
A single premise can lead to several endings without turning the story into a complicated script.
Keep the shared premise stable
The courtyard letter says “take the longer way home.” Keep that sentence unchanged while exploring different outcomes. One version might lead to a pleasant discovery; another might reveal a misunderstanding. Holding one element constant makes the alternatives easier to compare.
Choose an emotional direction
Ask for a hopeful, curious, or understated ending rather than a perfect one. These are creative preferences, not promises about how an external chat service will respond. State that all participants are fictional adults and keep the content within your own boundaries.
Compare the decisions
Notice what changed between versions. Did a character ask for help, turn back, or take a different route? An ending feels earned when it follows a choice already made in the scene. If it appears from nowhere, ask to introduce one clue earlier rather than making the conclusion longer.
Keep your own voice
You can borrow a structure without copying every generated sentence. Rewrite a detail, change the pace, or reject both endings. Co-writing does not require agreement with the text. The character is a creative device, and your decision about the story remains yours.
